Muyil Ruins
Visit the spectacular ancient city of Muyil – one of the earliest and longest inhabited Mayan sites on the eastern coast of the Yucatán peninsula. Some of the artifacts found here date back from 350 BC until 1200-1500 AD. The ruins of this settlement are nestled into the jungle close to a freshwater lagoon. Thus, this tour is a travel back in time, but also an exploration into nature of the now.
The Yucatán peninsula is the home of the Mayans since thousands of years. The discovery of Naia, the oldest human remains found on the American continent, proved that the region was settled already 13’000 years ago. In the passing of the decades, the Mayans developed to a sophisticated culture of architects, astrologers, mathematicians, warriors, traders and healers. Thankfully, some of the witnesses of these times remained through the turbulent Mexican history. Today, the ruins of their settlements tell us stories about the life of the ancient Mayans. On this tour to one of their old cities you will get a deeper insight into the mystical world of the past in these lands. Learn about the local history is the most alive way possible: your guide of Mayan origin gives you all the facts and answers on site.
